Biography
Known for his attention to detail, stunning art direction, and highly developed storytelling abilities, Tarsem is one of the most highly acclaimed and sought after directors in the advertising community worldwide.
His first major breakthrough work was the music video for REM’s Losing My Religion, which won eight MTV awards, including Best Music Video and a Grammy. He caught the attention of the advertising world by garnering two Cannes Lions: one for Wieden + Kennedy’s Anne Klein campaign, and one for Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s Levi’s. His commercial work is now part of a permanent collection on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
He has gone on to co-write, produce, and direct the critically acclaimed feature film The Fall and has worked on and directed multiple features since then, including Immortals, Mirror Mirror, and Self/less. Currently, Tarsem is developing three film projects and continues to direct television campaigns for major brands such as L'Oréal, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, Nike, Pepsi, T-Mobile, BMW, McDonald’s, and Sony.
His latest film, Dear Jassi, had its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival where it took home the coveted Platform Prize for “artistic merit and strong directorial vision.”
